Scale Model Exhibition “311 Lost Homes”
TOTO Gallery MA , November 2 ~ December 24, 2011

< Back to List

From the very first phase of elaborating “Lost Homes” project, we have considered organizing “exhibition”, aiming at commemorating lost towns and villages.

In the exhibition, the scale models enable spectators to grasp the greatness of devastated areas by tsunami.
For the exhibition, we selected 14 seriously damaged districts in Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures and showed white scale models. Namie-machi is the 14th “lost homes” because of evacuation advice, though it was not flooded.

Architecture students from 13 university laboratories participated in model-making work and felt a sense of solidarity. Their pure mourning penetrats each pine trees parts and Styrofoam houses represented in the scale models.
